Explosion on track near Kolkata kills 7-year-old, injures 2 | India News | Digireview

Bhatpara: A seven-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured when a bomb exploded on a railway line in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Tuesday, police said. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on the track in Bhatpara between Kakinara and Jagaddal stations, about 30 km from Kolkata, they said. The boy was playing with two of his friends with a package that was lying there and it suddenly exploded, police said.

“The bomb was kept on the track by miscreants. The children started playing with the bomb and thought it was a ball and it exploded,” said a police officer.

When he was taken to hospital, one of the three boys was pronounced dead, he said. The injured children were being treated, he said.
